Actiniopteris australis forms tidy clumps of tiny, fan-shaped fronds that radiate like eyelashes, giving it a delicate look without requiring much room. Usually only 10–20 cm tall, it suits terrariums, shallow pots, or mixed tropical arrangements where finer texture matters more than bulk.
Bright indirect light, steady warmth around 18–24 °C, and evenly moist but draining substrate keep new fronds coming without turning the rhizome sour.
It tolerates moderate shade better than harsh sun, and humidity around 50–70% helps the papery segments stay fresh. Because it stays compact and is considered non-toxic, it works well where you want a small fern presence without a sprawling habit or sharp maintenance curve. Division is the usual way to increase older clumps.
