Aeschynanthus 'Japhrolepis' grows as a trailing epiphyte with glossy dark green leaves and tubular flowers in red to orange tones, making it especially effective in hanging pots where the stems can spill freely. Vines can reach around 60 cm, and blooming is strongest when the plant gets bright filtered light rather than deep shade.
Allow the upper layer of the substrate to dry slightly between waterings, but do not keep roots wet and airless. A loose mix with bark or perlite suits its epiphytic background better than dense compost. Warmth, humidity above 60%, and regular but light feeding support flowering, while harsh sun, cold drafts, or chronic dryness tend to reduce both leaf quality and bud production. Light pinching after bloom helps the plant branch and fill out.
