Agave horrida looks exactly as its name suggests: a compact, dark green rosette heavily lined with cream to ivory teeth and finished with a sharp terminal spine on every leaf. Indoors it usually stays in the 40–60 cm range for years, but the rigid armature makes it feel larger than the measurements suggest. Give it maximum light, low humidity, and a gritty mix that dries quickly after each watering.
The roots want long dry intervals, especially in cool weather, and the plant responds far better to restraint than to frequent attention. Offsets can develop with age, but most growers keep it for the dense, defensive geometry. Sap can irritate skin, so repotting is a gloves-on job. A weighted pot is wise because the spiny rosette becomes awkward to move as it ages.
