Austrocylindropuntia subulata f. cristata turns an otherwise upright Andean cactus into a shifting sculptural crest, producing fan-like folds and ridges that make each plant different from the next. It has much more of a living-art quality than standard columnar cacti, especially once the crest broadens and begins to stack in layered waves.
Despite the unusual form, it still wants the same fundamentals as its parent: strong light, lean substrate, good airflow, and real drying between waterings. If you want something bold and weird that still fits a sunny windowsill or dry collection, this crested form delivers strong visual impact without complicated care.
