Begonia chingipengii spreads on rhizomes and holds asymmetric green leaves with pinkish midribs and maroon undersides, then lifts branched flower stalks well above the foliage when conditions are favourable. That combination gives it more vertical interest than many other low rhizomatous begonias, even though the plant itself stays compact and broad rather than tall.
A wide, shallow pot suits the growth pattern best, filled with an airy, moisture-retentive substrate that never turns dense or sour around the rhizomes. Bright shade, steady warmth, and humidity between about 60 and 85% help both foliage and bloom performance, while fully drying the mix tends to stall it. It is a strong choice for growers who want a spreading species with visible underside colour and flowers that rise clear of the leaf canopy instead of hiding within it.
