Begonia rex 'Etna' earns its name by layering dark crimson, charcoal, and metallic silver through a spiralled, deeply textured leaf that really does feel volcanic in tone. The colour is dense rather than scattered, so Begonia rex 'Etna' produces a compact mound of overlapping foliage with a strong, heavy visual centre.
That makes it especially effective as a solo plant in a shallow pot, where the rich leaf colour and matte sheen can dominate without distraction. If your collection already includes cooler silvers and greens, 'Etna' is the kind of rex that shifts the whole palette warmer and darker in a single move.
