Caladium 'Carolyn Whorton' is a long-established caladium cultivar with large leaves showing bright pink centres, red veins, and dark green margins, producing a classic high-contrast tropical look. It grows actively in warm conditions, usually reaching around 60 cm tall with a similar spread, then dies back into dormancy when temperatures and light levels fall.
Bright indirect light helps preserve the colour without scorching the thin foliage, while evenly moist but airy substrate and high humidity support steady leaf production. Use a well-draining mix, reduce watering once the leaves begin to yellow naturally, and divide the tubers only when dormant or just restarting.
Like other caladium forms it contains calcium oxalate and is toxic if chewed, despite its bright, decorative appearance.
