Euphorbia trigona is an upright succulent with three-angled stems, short paired spines, and small temporary leaves near the tips, giving it an instantly architectural, candelabra-like look indoors. Although often treated like a cactus in care, it belongs to Euphorbia and is valued more for vertical structure and fast, clean growth than for flowers.
It needs very bright light, a gritty fast-draining mix, and watering only after the pot has dried fully, because wet heavy soil is the quickest route to root and stem rot. Dry air is fine, pruning is minimal, and the milky latex is highly irritating and toxic, so gloves and care around pets or children are essential whenever the plant is cut or moved. Consistency and patience usually give the best results.
