Dossinia marmorata is a terrestrial jewel orchid grown for foliage rather than flowers, with broad velvety leaves marked by iridescent gold and green veins over a deep chocolate background. It creeps slowly by rhizomes and enlarges gradually over time, so patience is part of growing it well, but a healthy clump has a density and sheen that make the slow pace worthwhile.
This species comes from the humid forest floor of Borneo and wants similar conditions indoors: low to medium indirect light, very high humidity in roughly the 70–90% range, stable warmth around 20–28 °C, and a fine airy mix with sphagnum and leaf-rich organic matter that stays evenly moist but never waterlogged. Delicate roots resent compaction and excess wetness, so careful watering matters more than frequent feeding.
