Euphorbia abyssinica is a columnar succulent that forms ribbed, upright stems with paired spines and a candelabra-like outline, giving it strong vertical structure indoors. It is often mistaken for a cactus, but its growth is more tree-like over time, with branching and a height of 1 – 3 m possible in bright indoor conditions.
This species needs intense light, a very fast-draining mineral substrate, and thorough but infrequent watering only after the pot has dried fully, since constant moisture is far more dangerous than brief drought. Keep it warm, avoid frost and humid shade, and handle with care because the white latex sap is highly irritating to skin and eyes and unsafe around pets or children.
