Ficus binnendijkii 'Amstel King' replaces the broad-leaf fig look with something leaner and more vertical, using long glossy leaves and an upright framework to create a plant that reads elegant rather than bulky. That makes it especially useful in corners or beside furniture where a rounder ficus canopy would feel too dense. New growth often emerges with reddish tones before settling green, which adds a subtle colour shift that keeps the plant looking active even when growth is modest.
It still behaves like a ficus and wants consistency more than drama: bright indirect light, moderate watering, and as few sudden environmental changes as possible. Once settled, it becomes a dependable narrow-canopy indoor tree with more movement in the foliage than stiffer tropical shrubs. For clean, upright structure without broad leaves, 'Amstel King' is an excellent alternative to more common ficus forms.
