Hoya caudata 'Sumatra', also sold as 'Silver Stains', is a slow to moderate Hoya with rugged sandpapery leaves that shift from olive and brownish tones to redder flushes in stronger light. Silver mottling overlays the surface, giving each leaf a worn, weathered look that feels more wild and adventurous than polished. Mature plants can also produce warm-toned orange flowers, making the plant interesting both in foliage and bloom.
It grows well in hanging pots or on simple supports, provided the mix stays airy and the roots are never left wet. For collectors who like tougher textures and moodier foliage, 'Sumatra' is one of the more distinctive hoya forms available.
