Hymenocallis speciosa is a Caribbean spiderlily grown from a bulb and valued for umbels of narrow white flowers with a slight green tinge and a soft vanilla-like fragrance. Each flowering stalk can carry many blooms, opening in sequence so the display lasts longer than a single flower would suggest.
Warmth, brighter light, and evenly moist but free-draining soil during active growth help it perform best, while watering can be reduced when the plant is resting. In frost-free conditions it stays evergreen, but in containers it remains manageable and can still make a dramatic flowering plant for collectors of ornamental bulbs. A fertile mix with organic matter and some grit, temperatures around 18–30 °C, and regular feeding during the growing phase all support stronger blooming. Hymenocallis speciosa is a good choice when you want fragrance, unusual flower shape, and tropical presence from a bulb.
