Juncus effusus 'Spiralis' replaces broad leaves with upright green stems that twist into corkscrews, creating a clump that reads more like living sculpture than a conventional houseplant. Indoors it usually reaches around 40–50 cm and works especially well anywhere constant moisture is easy to provide, including paludarium edges, damp containers, or bright positions near water features. It tolerates bright indirect light and can even take stronger sun if the root zone stays wet, but the key is never allowing the substrate to dry out.
Use a moisture-retentive mix, keep water consistently available, and aim for temperatures of roughly 15–24 °C.
It is non-toxic and easy to divide, making it a practical choice if you want strong form without complicated care.
