Kalanchoe humilis is a low, shrubby succulent with thick grey-green leaves marked in deep maroon stripes and spots, giving it a patterned look that stays decorative even when the plant is not flowering. It can reach roughly 30–90 cm including the inflorescence, but the main interest lies in the smooth, broad leaves and its upright, somewhat spreading form. Strong light is important if you want to keep the colouring intense and the habit compact.
Let the substrate dry fully between waterings, use a very fast-draining mineral-rich mix, and keep temperatures warm while protecting the plant from frost. This species is considered toxic to pets if chewed, so placement should be chosen with care. Propagation from stem or leaf cuttings is straightforward once cuts have dried.
