Philodendron 'Black Cardinal' variegata combines the dark, broad foliage of the standard hybrid with irregular marbling in cream, pale green, and soft yellow, so each leaf develops its own pattern against a deep burgundy-to-near-black base. The plant keeps the same self-heading, upright structure as the original, usually reaching about 40–70 cm indoors without climbing support. New leaves often open in bronze or wine-red tones before darkening, which adds another layer of contrast to the variegation.
Bright, indirect light helps maintain strong colouring without scorching the paler tissue, while a chunky aroid mix and moderate watering after the upper layer dries protect the roots. Humidity around 50–70% suits it well.
This is a compact variegated philodendron for growers who want rare colour contrast without a large climbing vine.
