Philodendron callosum is an adaptable species from Venezuela, Brazil, and the Guiana Shield that can grow on wood, on the ground, or even against rocky surfaces, which already sets it apart from fussier philodendrons. The foliage varies in size and texture depending on the conditions you give it, so it appeals to growers who enjoy a plant that responds visibly to how it is grown. Indoors it usually reaches around 50–80 cm and can be trained to climb or allowed to sprawl depending on the setup.
Bright, indirect light works well, though it tolerates lower levels, and evenly moist but well-drained substrate keeps it steadier than sharp wet-dry extremes. It prefers humidity above about 65%, temperatures around 18–28 °C, and a loose mix with bark, sphagnum, and perlite. It is toxic if ingested.
