Philodendron deflexum is a large South American species with glossy sagittate leaves, broad posterior lobes, and a graceful downward arch that gives the whole blade a distinctive outline. The leaves can reach roughly 35–45 cm long, and the shape stays more refined and elongated than the broader jungle look of many common philodendrons.
It can be grown in substrate or adapted to semi-hydro and even fuller hydroponic culture, but in every case it wants warmth, bright indirect light, and steady moisture without stagnation. Water after the top 2–3 cm has dried, keep humidity around 60–80%, and use a well-aerated mix with coir, bark, and perlite if growing it traditionally. Temperatures around 18–28 °C suit it best.
Like other philodendrons, it is toxic if ingested and benefits from support as it matures.
