Philodendron martianum 'Pacová', often called 'Fatboy', is a self-supporting philodendron prized for very thick succulent-like petioles that store water and hold up a rosette of glossy mid-green leaves. That swollen petiole structure is the defining feature and gives the plant a heavier, more sculptural look than many philodendrons with similar leaf colour. It usually reaches around 90 cm indoors while staying upright and non-vining.
Bright, indirect light works best, though it tolerates less, and watering after the top layer of substrate has dried suits the water-storing petioles better than constant moisture. It prefers temperatures around 18–27 °C, humidity from 60–80%, and a loose mix with bark, coir, and perlite. Because it handles brief dryness better than most philodendrons, it is especially useful for growers who like structure but cannot water constantly.
