Polyscias scutellaria 'Butterfly' is a shrubby upright foliage plant with fan-shaped leaves edged in cream, giving it a lighter, more winged appearance than plain green forms. The plant can reach around 1.5 m indoors with time, but it stays more compact and structured than many broad-leaved tropicals, making it useful for rooms that need height without a climbing habit.
Bright, indirect light helps maintain the clean contrast at the leaf margins, while consistent moisture, warm temperatures, and moderate humidity keep the plant fuller and reduce leaf drop. A loose, draining potting mix and occasional balanced feeding support steady growth without encouraging legginess.
Because the form is naturally shrubby, it can function as a statement plant on its own or as a more formal contrast to softer tropical foliage. It is mainly valued for leaf outline, cream edging, and tidy structure.
