Strelitzia nicolai is the large white bird of paradise grown indoors for height, broad paddle-shaped leaves, and long-term structural impact rather than for frequent flowers. Young plants often seem manageable, but mature specimens quickly become big, upright foliage plants that need real floor space and excellent light to look their best. In bright interiors they develop strong fan-shaped crowns and eventually trunk-like stems formed by old leaf bases, giving them an almost indoor-tree presence.
Regular watering with good drainage, rich airy soil, and stable warmth help support those large leaves. Ideal for growers who want bold tropical scale and are not expecting a small, easy-to-hide houseplant.
