Tillandsia ionantha is a compact epiphytic air plant that blushes red toward the centre before flowering, then pushes out violet blooms from an otherwise silvery-green rosette. Because it stays small and pups readily after bloom, it is one of the easiest species for building clumps, arranging in groups, or placing in tight bright spaces without needing pots or substrate.
It does best with regular soaking or thorough rinsing, then fast drying in good airflow, since proper watering matters more than frequent misting alone. Bright indirect light keeps the rosette tight and colourful, while enclosed, stale displays usually cause the soft bases and rot problems that make air plants seem harder than they really are. Fast drying matters more than display style.
