Aglaonema pictum 'Tricolor' is the famous three-tone camouflage form, with dark, sage, and cream blocks tiled across thick oval leaves that look more like a painted species treasure than a standard houseplant. It grows slowly, usually to about 40–60 cm indoors, and the plant’s appeal lies in the mosaic foliage rather than in size or speed.
Native Aglaonema pictum comes from humid montane rainforest in Sumatra and nearby islands, which explains why this cultivar prefers warm temperatures, very airy substrate, bright diffused light, and higher humidity than the easy common Chinese evergreen hybrids. It is far less forgiving of cold, dry air, or compact wet soil.
Water only after the upper layer has dried slightly, but do not let the mix go hard dry, and keep the environment stable if you want the pattern to remain crisp and growth to continue steadily. Cabinet or protected-room culture suits it especially well.
