Alocasia longiloba is a cornerstone species in the genus, combining elongated lobed leaves, silvered venation, and purple to maroon undersides in a clean upright framework that has influenced later hybrids. Rather than reading bulky, it tends to look taut and elegant, which is why collectors still seek species even when more dramatic cultivars exist. Indoors it often reaches around 60–90 cm and forms a strong vertical accent without demanding giant floor space.
Bright indirect light helps the veins and metallic edging show clearly, while warmth and steady humidity support fuller leaf expansion.
Use a coarse, breathable mix with bark and mineral components, keep moisture even but never stagnant, and avoid sudden cool spells if you want plant to retain its classic poise and colour contrast.
