Ctenanthe oppenheimiana is a large, flowing Marantaceae species with long leaves striped in cream and green above and flushed maroon beneath, creating contrast from both directions as the foliage arches and shifts. Indoors it can reach up to about 1.5 m under good care, but the growth remains softer and more fountain-like than many other tall tropicals.
Bright indirect light, warmth, and humidity around 60–70% help keep the leaf margins clean and the colour strong, while direct sun can scorch or wash out the pattern. Water when the top layer has dried slightly, use a loose mix with coir, bark, and perlite, and avoid cold drafts or chronic dryness. Division during repotting is the usual way to propagate it.
For growers who want height without a rigid habit, it offers a broad, moving silhouette rather than stiff upright structure.
