Cycas revoluta is not a palm at all but an old cycad, grown for its heavy trunk and rigid, symmetrical fronds that emerge in dramatic flushes and then hold their shape for a long time. Even a small specimen reads as permanent and architectural, which makes it more useful as a living design object than as a soft filler plant.
Growth is slow and deliberate, so the reward lies in long-term structure, a prehistoric look, and the rare but memorable moment when a new crown of fronds hardens into place.
Maximum light, excellent drainage, careful watering only after real drying, and patience are essential, and so is safe placement, because every part of the plant, especially the seeds, is highly toxic to pets and people.
