Philodendron cf. lupinum is a rare Amazonian climber that changes character with age, starting with velvety heart-shaped juvenile leaves that are dark above and maroon underneath, then shifting into larger, more elongated mature blades with a glossier top surface. That transformation is a big part of the plant’s appeal, because a single specimen can show very different foliage stages over time. It climbs best on a pole or trellis, and support helps the mature form appear faster.
Bright, indirect light, watering after the top 10–15% of substrate has dried, and a chunky mix with bark, coir, perlite, and charcoal suit it well. It prefers 18–27 °C and humidity around 60–80%.
As with other philodendrons, it contains calcium oxalate and should be kept away from pets and children.
