Philodendron rubrijuvenile 'El Chocó Red' is a velvet-leaf climber from Colombia grown for crimson new leaves that gradually darken to green while keeping a suede-like surface. Mature foliage can reach roughly 25–35 cm indoors with support, and the red-to-green progression means the plant often carries several colour stages at once. A moss pole or fibrous support is especially valuable here, because climbing encourages larger leaves and a more upright silhouette.
Bright, filtered light, warm temperatures, high humidity, and a chunky aroid mix with bark, perlite, and coir help it perform well indoors. Water when roughly the top half of the substrate has dried, but do not let the root ball stay dry for long.
This is a collector’s philodendron grown mainly for texture, red juvenile growth, and strong vertical presentation.
