Philodendron 'Red Sun' is a compact erubescens-type hybrid that keeps delivering warm colour by sending out leaves in fiery red and orange before they deepen into green with burgundy undertones. Because it grows as a self-heading rosette, the plant stays tidy and dense without needing a pole, and multiple colour stages can be visible at the same time. Most plants settle into a 50–80 cm footprint indoors.
Bright, indirect light gives the strongest flush on new growth, while watering after the top 10–15% of substrate has dried prevents the root problems that lead to yellowing. A loose mix with coir, perlite, bark, and quality potting media works well, and temperatures around 18–27 °C with moderate humidity keep growth consistent.
Like all philodendrons in this group, it contains calcium oxalate and should not be chewed.
