Goeppertia veitchiana 'Medaillon', still widely sold as Calathea 'Medallion', produces broad rounded leaves layered with dark and mid-green patterning above rich burgundy undersides, then adds the familiar prayer-plant movement as the foliage lifts at night and lowers again by morning. It forms a substantial clump compared with smaller Marantas, often reaching around 60–90 cm in both height and spread indoors, so it works best where there is room for the leaves to open fully.
Keep it in bright indirect light, warm conditions around 18–27 °C, and evenly moist, airy substrate. Humidity around 60–70% and lower-mineral water help reduce crisp edges and spotting. Non-toxic and visually bold, it is a strong foliage plant for growers who can keep conditions steady.
