Goeppertia rufibarba 'Wavestar' is grown for texture as much as colour, with narrow lance-shaped leaves whose slightly ruffled edges and velvety surface give the plant a soft almost feathery look. The upper leaf surface stays deep green while the underside shows maroon to purple, especially when the leaves lift at night in the typical Marantaceae motion. Indoors it forms an upright bushy clump around 60–100 cm, bringing movement and softness rather than hard architectural lines.
Bright indirect light, evenly moist but well-aerated substrate, temperatures around 18–24 °C, and humidity above 60% keep the foliage in best condition. Distilled or rainwater helps reduce edge damage, and division at repotting is the easiest propagation method.
It is described as non-toxic, which makes it practical for homes where pet-safe foliage matters.
