Alocasia nycteris âBatwingâ makes its impact through silhouette, sending up dark glossy leaves whose flared margins and pointed lobes resemble stylised bat wings. The plant can reach about 1.2â1.5 m indoors on vertically striped petioles, so it offers height and graphic shape without the broad rounded mass of standard elephant ears.
The blade surface stays reflective, which helps the winged outline show clearly in bright filtered light. Consistent warmth, high humidity, and an airy organic substrate suit it best, especially because this Philippine species comes from humid lowland forest. Water once the upper part of the mix begins to dry, but do not let the roots sit wet for long stretches. It delivers strong presence with an almost theatrical quality.
