Alocasia scalprum stays compact, usually around 30–40 cm tall indoors, but its narrow, blade-like leaves give it a much sharper presence than broader Alocasia species. New growth emerges bright green before deepening to bluish green, with a glossy surface and embossed venation that can catch the light with a faint metallic effect.
It prefers bright, indirect light, warm temperatures, and moisture that stays consistent without becoming stagnant. Use a loose aroid mix with bark, perlite, and coir, keep humidity around 60–80% where possible, and water once the top 10–15% has dried slightly.
This clumping Philippine species suits shelves or cabinets well and can also adapt to mineral or semi-hydro substrates when moisture and oxygen stay balanced indoors.
