Alocasia zebrina is grown as much for its banded petioles as for its glossy arrow-shaped leaves, with olive and cream striping that gives the plant a strong graphic quality even before it reaches full size. Indoors it usually grows to about 1–1.5 m, holding its foliage upright in a clean vertical outline that fits well in brighter minimalist spaces.
Keep it in bright, indirect light with warmth, humidity around 60–80%, and a chunky aroid substrate that stays lightly moist but never stagnant. Water once the upper portion has dried slightly, and reduce moisture in slower, cooler periods without letting the roots desiccate completely.
Offsets can be divided during repotting, but all parts contain calcium oxalate, so despite the elegant look it should be kept out of reach of pets and children that may chew stems or leaves.
