Aloidendron dichotomum, formerly Aloe dichotoma, is a slow-growing succulent tree with a pale reflective trunk and repeatedly forked branches that create one of the most recognisable silhouettes in arid-plant collections. In a pot it remains far smaller than in habitat, but still develops into a long-term specimen that values shape, light, and patience more than quick growth.
Full sun or the brightest possible indoor position, a very mineral, sharply draining substrate, and deep but infrequent watering after complete dry-down are the essential care points. It dislikes humidity, shade, and winter wet, and while not generally listed as highly toxic, it is still a plant better handled with sensible care than treated as edible or pet-safe.
