Apoballis acuminatissima 'Lavallaei', often sold as Purple Sword, is a compact foliage plant with a very strong upper-versus-lower contrast: fine silver mottling above and deep maroon undersides beneath. That colour pairing gives it a lot more visual depth than many small clumping aroids, especially once several leaves are held at different angles.
It works well in medium to bright indirect light and appreciates steady humidity, but it does not need huge size to make a display feel more layered and interesting. If you want dense, patterned foliage with a darker reverse and an easy collector look, this cultivar is a very effective choice.
