Josefia intricata is a compact Bornean aroid grown for its glossy, lance-shaped leaves crossed by thick, raised venation that gives the surface a sculpted, almost carved look. It stays relatively small, usually around 20 cm tall, which makes it easy to place on shelves or in enclosed high-humidity setups where the leaf detail can be appreciated up close. Bright, indirect light, warm temperatures around 20–28 °C, consistently moist but airy substrate, and humidity above 70% support the best growth.
A loose mix rich in organic matter with bark and perlite helps prevent stagnant roots, and division is the simplest way to propagate it. Growth is moderate rather than fast.
Because it contains calcium oxalate crystals, it should be treated as toxic if chewed or ingested.
