Begonia 'Rouge' variegata keeps the familiar red “zip” at the point where the petiole meets the blade, but adds irregular cream and green variegation across rounded, peltate leaves. That combination makes it much more variable from leaf to leaf than plain green forms, while the compact, bushy habit keeps the whole plant neat enough for shallow pots, terrariums, or smaller shelves.
Give it bright indirect light to preserve the contrast, but protect it from strong sun that can scorch paler tissue. A light, airy, fast-draining mix is more important than a large pot, and the substrate should stay lightly moist rather than wet or dry for long stretches. Because the foliage is the main feature, stable humidity and careful watering matter more than heavy feeding or forced growth.
