Cereus forbesii is a fast-growing columnar cactus from Argentina and Bolivia, recognized for blue-green stems, pronounced ribbing, and a sculptural habit that can stay straight or become more dramatic in spiral and monstrose forms. In containers it remains more manageable than the multi-meter plants seen outdoors, but it still wants very bright light or full sun to keep its shape firm and colour clean.
A sharply draining cactus mix, dry air, and complete drying between waterings are central to long-term health, while cold and persistent moisture are the main risks. When established, it may produce large night-opening flowers followed by red fruits with lilac pulp. This is a structural cactus: useful when you want height, strong form, and minimal watering rather than dense, leafy growth.
