Cyperus alternifolius 'Zumula' is the practical cat grass choice for growers who want something pets can chew repeatedly without the pot collapsing after a few days. It forms a fine, fountain-like clump of soft green stems tipped with umbrella-style leaf whorls, so it looks tidy and decorative in a bright room while still functioning as a genuine graze plant. Unlike short-lived cereal cat grass, it is perennial and quick to reshoot after trimming or nibbling, which makes it far more useful for ongoing indoor use.
The key is to grow it like a moisture lover, not a houseplant on dry cycles: keep the substrate consistently wet, allow the pot to stand in shallow water, and give it bright light so the regrowth stays strong and fresh.
