Disocactus ackermannii 'Red Tip' is an epiphytic cactus with flat arching segmented stems that flush red to burgundy at the tips when light is bright enough. Over time the stems can trail well past 1 m, making it ideal for hanging pots or elevated displays where both new and mature growth can be appreciated.
Unlike desert cacti, it prefers bright indirect light, regular watering once the top layer has dried, and an airy organic mix with bark, coco chips, and perlite rather than a dry mineral desert substrate. Warm temperatures around 18–26 °C and humidity in roughly the 50–80% range keep it comfortable, and mature plants may reward that care with vivid red flowers from spring into early summer. Cold below 10 °C and soggy soil are the main conditions to avoid.
