Dracaena fragrans 'Compacta' condenses corn-plant growth into short canes crowned with tight rosettes of glossy dark green leaves, giving it a dense formal look in a relatively small footprint. Most plants stay around 30–60 cm tall, which makes the cultivar especially useful on desks, side tables, and low planters where taller cane forms would dominate. It tolerates low light better than many variegated Dracaena, though moderate indirect light keeps growth steadier.
Let roughly the top 20–30% of the substrate dry before watering, use a loose mix with bark or perlite, and avoid oversized pots because the roots dislike sitting wet. Growth is very slow, repotting is infrequent, and yellowing foliage usually points to overwatering. Like other Dracaena, it is toxic to pets if ingested.
