Dracaena trifasciata 'Night Shade' combines near-black green leaf centres with crisp yellow margins, making it a darker, more dramatic counterpart to brighter striped snake plants. The foliage rises in upright sabre-like blades from a central rosette, creating a strong vertical shape that stays compact enough for ordinary indoor spaces. Most plants reach about 40–70 cm, with slow steady growth and the same drought tolerance expected from trifasciata.
Bright indirect light sharpens the yellow edging, though the plant tolerates shade, and watering should stay sparse, only after the substrate has dried completely. A mineral-rich cactus mix and warm temperatures around 18–27 °C are ideal.
Root rot remains the main risk, and the leaves should be kept away from pets that might chew them.
