Epipremnum pinnatum is a vigorous tropical climber whose leaves change markedly with age, starting as solid juvenile blades and developing longer, fenestrated mature foliage when the plant is allowed to climb. Indoors it can reach 1–3 m or more, and with a pole or trellis the leaves become much larger and more defined than on unsupported trailing growth.
It tolerates a range of indoor conditions, but bright, indirect light, moderate to high humidity, and a chunky aroid mix bring out its best form. Let the upper layer of substrate dry between waterings, keep temperatures warm, and prune or propagate from node cuttings as needed. Because plant tissue contains calcium oxalate crystals, it should be kept away from pets and children that may chew the leaves or stems.
