Euphorbia avasmontana is grown for structure rather than speed, building upright ribbed stems armed with neat pairs of spines that give the whole plant a dry, geometric presence even when still young. It looks cactus-like at a glance, but the grey-green body, candelabra habit, and milky latex make it unmistakably Euphorbia once you know what to look for.
Indoors it suits the brightest, driest positions you have, because full light and a hard mineral mix are what keep the stems compact, the ribs crisp, and the root system safe from rot. Water should be deep but rare, with real dry-downs between, and handling always needs care because the sap is irritating.
For collectors interested in southern African xerophytes with a strong silhouette and little tolerance for fuss, Euphorbia avasmontana is a very solid, sculptural choice.
