Ficus elastica 'Abidjan' is a bold rubber plant with broad glossy leaves that emerge in rich burgundy tones and mature to deep green with a dark red cast. It grows upright and steady, eventually forming a strong indoor tree with real height and very little fuss when given bright, indirect light and measured watering.
Compared with lighter or variegated ficus cultivars, 'Abidjan' feels heavier, moodier, and more dramatic, which makes it especially effective as a statement plant in clean interiors.
Let the upper part of the soil dry between waterings, avoid cold drafts, and keep the latex sap away from skin, pets, and children.
