Goeppertia concinna, often seen under the older name Calathea leopardina, grows as a compact bushy clump of elongated oval leaves patterned in lighter and darker green. The markings have a painted, leopard-like rhythm, while the plant also shows nyctinasty, lifting its leaves at night and lowering them again by day. Indoors it usually reaches around 30–60 cm, making it manageable for shelves and stands if humidity is good.
Bright indirect light suits it best, and the substrate should stay consistently moist but never stagnant, ideally with filtered or distilled water to reduce spotting. A nutrient-rich, well-draining mix, temperatures around 18–27 °C, and high humidity help preserve the foliage.
It is described as non-toxic to pets, which adds to its appeal as a patterned Marantaceae for homes where leaf damage from dry air and hard water can be managed.
