Gymnocalycium mihanovichii is a compact globular cactus best known as the species behind many grafted “moon cactus” forms, but even the natural green-bodied plants have plenty of character. Smooth ribs, short spines, and occasional patterned coloration make it easy to recognise, while its small size keeps it useful for bright windowsills and collector trays.
It thrives in a gritty, fast-draining cactus mix, with thorough watering followed by complete drying, and it stays happiest in bright light without prolonged wet cold. For growers who want a small cactus with reliable shape and occasional flowering, Gymnocalycium mihanovichii is one of the easiest and most adaptable choices.
