Hoya callistophylla is a climbing species prized for thick elongated leaves marked by bold dark venation over a lighter green background, creating a strong pattern without any need for variegation. With support it can reach several metres indoors over time, but the growth stays more manageable if the roots are kept in a snug pot and the mix remains airy. Bright, indirect light is ideal, and the substrate should be allowed to dry partly between waterings rather than staying constantly damp.
Warm temperatures around 18–26 °C and humidity around 60–70% help keep the leaves full and the roots active. Mature plants may produce star-shaped flowers with reddish centres, though the foliage is the main draw.
The species is best treated as mildly irritating if chewed because of its latex-like sap.
