Hoya pubicalyx 'Black Dragon' keeps the species' easy, vigorous growth but shifts the floral display into moodier territory, with umbels in deep smoky burgundy to near-charcoal tones that stand out strongly against the green leaves. The vine itself is dependable and fast enough to cover a hoop or trellis without much trouble, so you are not trading ease for drama when you choose this darker form. Silver flecking can appear on the foliage, but the real reason to grow 'Black Dragon' is for those distinctly dark blooms, which feel heavier and more unusual than the pinker pubicalyx selections.
Bright filtered light, warmth, an airy mix, and steady but restrained watering will keep the plant strong enough to flower repeatedly and show off its darker character properly.
